Norilsk Nickel to launch Bystrinsky GOK 1st stage on October 31

CHITA, Oct 6 (PRIME) -- Russian metals giant Norilsk Nickel plans to launch the first stage of its Bystrinsky GOK ore mining and processing plant on October 31, the government of the Zabaikalsky Region said in a statement on Friday quoting Governor Natalya Zhdanova.

“We planned the launch of the facility’s first stage on October 31. We also discussed prospects for the launch of the second stage of the plant, which will be done in future,” the government quoted Zhdanova as saying after a meeting with Norilsk Nickel CEO Vladimir Potanin.

Norilsk Nickel expects the Bystrinsky GOK to reach projected annual capacity of more than 65,000 tonnes of copper and about 250,000 ounces of gold by 2019.
